📢 IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR THE 2026–2027 SCHOOL YEAR 📢

Continuing in the 2026–2027 school year, Semmes Middle School will utilize Yondr pouches and implement clear bag requirements as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and focused learning environment for all students.

📱 YONDR POUCH INFORMATION
• Students who bring a phone or personal electronic device to school will be required to store the device in a Yondr pouch while on campus.
• Yondr pouches may be purchased for $25 each.
• Students with a device on campus without a Yondr pouch will be considered in violation of district policy.
• Students and families who choose not to purchase a Yondr pouch must keep all personal devices completely OFF campus.
• Students are responsible for the care of their Yondr pouch. Lost or damaged pouches must be replaced by the student/family.
• Yondr pouches in good working condition may be used from year to year.

🎒 CLEAR BAG REQUIREMENTS
• Clear, transparent bookbags will be required, available in the online store.
• Mesh, tinted, solid-colored, opaque, or non-clear bags will not be permitted.
• Small non-clear pouches may be used for personal hygiene items.
• All personal belongings and bags are subject to search in accordance with school and district policies.

🔹 SAFETY PROCEDURES REMAIN IN EFFECT
• No hoodies permitted
• No headwear of any kind, including hats, caps, and bandanas
• No AirPods, earbuds, or headphones permitted
• Only clear plastic drinking containers permitted
• No blankets, stuffed animals, or toys permitted on campus

These expectations are designed to support student safety, maximize instructional time, and create a distraction-free learning environment where every Bulldog can thrive.

Additional implementation details will be shared prior to the start of the school year.

Promotional poster for Semmes Middle School announcing the implementation of Yondr pouches for student cell phones and personal electronic devices. The design uses the school colors of navy blue, white, and Vegas gold and features the Semmes Bulldogs logo at the top. Large headline reads: “Yondr Pouches – A Safer, More Focused School.” The poster explains that Alabama's FOCUS Act prohibits student use of smartphones and other wireless communication devices during the school day. To comply with state law and MCPSS procedures, Semmes Middle School will require students who bring a phone or digital device to campus to store it in a Yondr pouch while on school grounds. A large image of a Yondr pouch appears on the right side of the graphic with a circular badge stating: “Yondr Pouch – $25.00 Each.” A section titled “Key Reminders” includes: Students with a device on campus without a Yondr pouch may be in violation of district policy. Students who do not purchase a Yondr pouch must keep all personal devices turned off while on campus. Students are responsible for the care of their Yondr pouch. Lost or damaged pouches must be replaced by the student or family. Pouches in good condition may be reused from year to year. Another section titled “What Is a Yondr Pouch?” explains that the pouch securely stores phones and devices during the school day and can only be unlocked at designated unlocking stations at the end of the day. The poster also includes Bag Guidelines: Clear, transparent bookbags are required. Mesh, tinted, solid-colored, opaque, or non-clear bags are not permitted. Small non-clear pouches may be used for personal hygiene items. Bags and belongings are subject to search according to school and district policies. A final section titled “Safety Procedures Remain in Effect” lists: No hoodies permitted. No headwear, including hats, caps, or bandanas. No AirPods, earbuds, or headphones. Only clear plastic drinking containers permitted. No blankets, stuffed animals, or toys on campus. The graphic closes with a message thanking families for helping maintain a safe, structured, and academically focused environment and ends with the phrase: “Go Bulldogs!”.
