Nan Gray Davis is once again participating in the "Stuff the Bus" campaign this year. Students are encouraged to bring in a new, unwrapped toy that will used to help make Christmas brighter for families in our local community. Students who donate a toy by December 10 will be allowed to come out of uniform on Monday, December 15. Sara Richey is serving as our Bullying Prevention Week Ambassador this week at Nan Gray Davis. Sara has shown great initiative in using her artistic talents to create posters that are hanging around campus to remind students to choose kindness and respect. Way to be a leader, Sara; you are a shining example of what a Jr. Bobcat truly is!

This week is Anti-Bullying Week at Nan Gray Davis Elementary. Through our Capturing Kids' Hearts initiative, we constantly work to help our students develop as positive peers, role models, and leaders. Our students know that bullying is not accepted at our school, and that they should report any instances of bullying to our school counselor, Mrs. Jones.

We have some exciting news to share! For the third straight year, Nan Gray Davis Elementary School has increased our score on the annual Alabama Department of Education School Report Card! With this year's score of 84, we have improved our score by 10 points over the past three years. This score increase is the result of continued gains in Academic Achievement and Academic Growth (as measured by the Spring 2025 ACAP), as well as a continued decreased in Chronic Absenteeism. We are so incredibly proud of our students, teachers, staff, and entire school community!
A letter that provides more information about this report card, including how it is calculated and how parents can support our school's efforts, can be accessed at the following link: https://files-backend.assets.thrillshare.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/5395/Ngdes/3c41487d-8966-4cd5-943e-e796a8d28423/Report-Card-Parent-Letter.pdf?disposition=inline
A printed copy of this letter will be coming home with students on Monday, along with the parent newsletter and mid-quarter progress reports.

As you are probably aware, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits are currently unavailable. We understand how stressful this situation can be for those who rely on this support, and we want to ensure that no child goes without food or care during this time. If your family is affected, please know that help is available:
Our school cafeteria will continue to serve breakfast and lunch daily to all students at no charge.
Attached is a list of churches and food pantries serving our Theodore community.
Families in need can reach out to our school counselor or social worker for additional information.
In addition, families may request a one-time box of non-perishable food if they are experiencing a food crisis in their household. To submit this request, complete the form at the following link: https://forms.office.com/r/kx5kxCBaKg
We encourage any family experiencing hardship to contact us confidentially — we are here to support you. You may reach out to our school counselor Mrs. Kim Jones at kljones@mcpss.com or Dr. Paul Agnew at pjagnew@mcpss.com.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to make sure every child is cared for and supported.

As a reminder, our Fall Festival will be this Friday, November 7. A flyer with all details was sent home last week (a copy of that flyer is below). Parents should complete/detach the bottom of that flyer and send back to school with money as soon as possible. Students will need an armband ($10) to participate in the activities and games. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase. Parents may attend, but no siblings are allowed to attend. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher.
