Read for the Record at E. R. Dickson Elementary School

E.R. Dickson students are looking forward to the 12th anniversary of Jumpstart's Read for the Record, a global campaign that generates public support for high-quality early learning and highlights the importance of building children's vocabulary and love for reading. On October 19, 2017 children and adults worldwide will take action by participating in the world's largest shared reading experience.  This year we celebrate again with an assembly to celebrate reading.  The choir and cheerleaders will perform.

Each year, Jumpstart selects one children's book as the catalyst for Read for the Record.  This year's campaign book, Quackers, written and illustrated by Liz Wong, is a wonderful story that follows a kitten who grows up believing he is a duck. This tale is about understanding, acceptance, and learning it’s ok to be whoever you want to be.  Help us break the world reading record (again!) for the most people reading the same book on the same day!
