NATIONAL ELEMENTARY HONOR SOCIETY. On November 9, 2012, family and friends gathered for the National Elementary Honor Society Induction Ceremony at E. R. Dickson. The ceremony was lead by Dickson's teacher sponsors, Mrs. King, Mrs. Hatcher, Mrs. Tait and Mrs. Herrboldt. Students received individual recognition certificates and took the NEHS oath. Technology Team Winners at the 2013 Computer Fair Mrs. King awarded the Local Unit PTA Adult Learner Scholarship. Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Portia Payne! Mrs. Payne, Kindergarten Teacher, was selected to represent E. R. Dickson in the 2013 Teacher of the Year program sponsored by the Mobile County Public Schools and the state of Alabama. Recipients of this award exhibit outstanding professional and educational backgrounds, are involved in the community, and stay current on educational issues and trends. Mrs. Payne was selected due to her outstanding accomplishments in these areas. E. R. Dickson will be well represented! Congratulations, Mrs. Payne! United Way Student Campaign! Our E. R. Dickson students dug deep into their pockets in support of the United Way. Our United Way Student Campaign brought in $750.00 this year! This is an awesome show of support for the United Way! Wednesday, Nov. 21st....Students will be able to wear their favorite team shirt to school with their uniform shoes, pants, and belt. RED RIBBON WEEK - October 22-25, 2012....We are celebrating Red Ribbon Week at E. R. Dickson with special school activities and classroom lessons centered around the theme, Senior Bowl FUN RUN!! Each year the Senior Bowl awards money to schools for participation in the Senior Bowl Fun Run. The school with the most entries will win $1500. All money raised through this program will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Be sure to turn in your registration by Wednesday, Oct. 24th! Help us help the children of St. Jude while having a great time with friends, family, and teachers as we run as a team for E. R. Dickson. All entries will receive a long-sleeve Senior Bowl Charity Run t-shirt which will be delivered to the school. Please stay tuned for information regarding our meeting point so we can all run together to represent E. R. Dickson. Office Max offers a helping hand at ERD! Miss Sheffield's 4th grade was surprised by Office Max employees with a special appreciation gift - A Day Made Better! Miss Sheffield received many office supplies and even a chair! Many students participated in the election process by running for office through campaigning and giving speeches prior to the election. The following students were elected to serve as officers for this year: Ajia Harper, President; Tre'von Conner, Vice President; Rebeckah Rodriguez, Treasurer; Mia Fusaiotti, Secretary; Ryan White, Historian. Congratulations to these students! We look forward to the leadership they will provide during this school year.
